Information we collect

When you use skill·proofer, we collect the following data:

• CV/Resume files you upload (PDF format)
• GitHub usernames you provide
• Email address and account information (via Clerk authentication)
• Payment information (processed entirely by Stripe — we never see your card details)
• Usage data such as report timestamps and page interactions

How we use your data

We use your data solely to provide and improve the service:

• CV files are sent to OpenAI for parsing technical claims, then stored for report generation and future reference
• GitHub usernames are used to fetch public repository data via the GitHub API
• Report data is stored in our database and displayed in your dashboard
• Email is used for account management and authentication

Data sharing

We share your data only with trusted third-party services necessary to operate the platform:

• OpenAI — for CV parsing and interview question generation (data is not used by OpenAI for training)
• GitHub API — for fetching public repository data
• Stripe — for payment processing
• Clerk — for authentication and account management
• We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not share data for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your CV files and reports at any time by contacting us. Account deletion will remove all associated data within 30 days.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Request data portability
• Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing)

Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for all data in transit. CV files and report data are stored in encrypted databases. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication (via Clerk). We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party marketing cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
